Baseball opens the season with a road win at STMA

John Paul II Catholic High School opened the 2022 varsity season with a 13-5 victory over St. Thomas More in Raleigh.

JPII opened the scoring in the first inning. Dillon Gregory singled on an 0-1 count, scoring Cash Daniels-Moye and Ray Shaw. The Saints scored four runs in the fifth inning; Max Mason, Cash Daniels-Moye, and Ray Shaw each had RBIs in the big inning.

Dillon Gregory was the winning pitcher. The righthander went one and two-thirds innings, allowing zero runs on one hit, striking out five, and walking one. Freshmen James Donofrio and Quinn McCaffrey entered the game out of the bullpen and helped close out the game in relief.

Christian Marello led JPII with two hits in two at bats. Daniels-Moye led the team with three stolen bases as the Saints ran wild on the base paths with eight stolen bases.
