Outstanding goalie performance not enough for lacrosse

The Saints boys lacrosse team fell short at home against Havelock High School on Thursday night. The Saints were close in the first quarter, trailing just 3-1, but a couple of penalties led to the Rams taking the lead early in the 2nd quarter.

What Happened

The Saints fell behind early in the first quarter 3-1 after a goal from junior William Fawcett (unassisted). The team spent a large portion of the 2nd quarter a man down and were unable to tally any marks in the second. The Rams led at halftime 7-1.

The Saints were once again held off the scoreboard in the 3rd quarter, although the squad was able to get a few shots on goal. The score going into the 4th quarter was 9-1.

In the 4th quarter, the Saints were able to generate some offense and found the back of the net twice. Junior Thomas Keeter scored off a fast break by way of Britt Gauquie. Later in the 4th quarter, senior Jacob Daughety scored his first goal of the season.

In goal for the Saints was junior Bryce Keel, who ended the game with 48 minutes played and 19 saves, a personal and school record for a single game.

Up Next

The Saints will play again at home on Monday, Maarch 20 at 4:30 p.m. against Greensboro Day School. This will be the first-ever meeting between the two schools.
